Journal January Entry 21: Showing Up
Journal January — Day 21
For me, resistance isn’t loud. It doesn’t announce itself. It shows up in how I work and how I choose to take up space.
As a woman in tech, simply being present, ambitious, and unapologetic is an act of resistance. I don’t soften my goals to be more palatable. I don’t apologize for my drive or explain away my ambition so it feels less threatening. I show up prepared, thoughtful, and clear about what I want to build.
That matters.
Resistance also looks like refusing to perform a version of myself that feels easier for others to accept. It’s choosing authenticity over likability. It’s trusting that competence doesn’t need to be diluted with disclaimers or self-deprecation.
But my resistance doesn’t stop with me.
It’s equally important to me to champion the women I work with — to support their ideas, amplify their voices, and advocate for their projects. To recognize that progress isn’t just individual, it’s collective. That there’s power in collaboration and visibility, and that making space for others strengthens all of us.
In a world that still benefits from women shrinking, resistance can be as simple — and as powerful — as refusing to do so.
It’s building things with integrity. It’s standing behind other women when it counts. It’s showing up fully, every day, and trusting that this kind of consistency is its own form of change.
